What year did the first Ford Mustang come out?

Q. When was the Ford Mustang introduced?

Adam answers:

Officially, 1965 was the first model year of the Ford Mustang. However, the Mustang was actually introduced on April 17, 1964 at the World’s Fair in Flushing Meadows, New York (by Henry Ford II, Henry Ford’s grandson). It was immediately available for sale at that point, so you will often see the early 1965 Ford Mustang referred to as the “1964 1/2 Mustang”.
