How much do dental implants cost?

Q. How much does it usually cost for dental implants?

Adam answers:

Figure on at least $3500 if it’s a single tooth that you are having done, more if you need multiple teeth, though you might get a bit of a volume discount if you’re having more than one implant.

Why does it cost so much? Well, a dental implant is actually a three-step process, and none of these steps is simple (or cheap):

  1. First, an artificial root has to be placed. This is technically the “implant”, though obviously no one just wants an artificial root, so you are also paying for…
  2. The abutment, which is basically a connecting piece in order to attach…
  3. The crown, which is the artificial tooth that people actually see when you smile. It’s good for chewing food, too.

As you can see a dental implant is not a simple procedure, and the price reflects that reality.
