Q. Why would I get the message “account restricted” on my Capital One credit card?
There are multiple reasons your Capital One credit card account could be restricted:
- There may have been some suspicious activity on your account, a charge that didn’t fit the pattern of your past spending. Capital One might restrict the card from being used until they’ve had a chance to verify the transaction(s) in question.
- You may be late (or very late) on a payment. Not surprisingly, if you don’t pay your credit card bill, Capital One might restrict your account from being used until you’ve made a payment.
- You may have reached your card’s credit limit and Capital One will not let you go past the credit limit, so your card is restricted until you make a payment to make more of your credit available again.
